Being Enchanted by L’Enchanteur L’ifestyle.

A big part of my starting this blog was so that I can have a space where I get to shamelessly plug my infinitely talented and dextrous compadres, like I always want to do (and DO when I remember to!) in real life; one of my life’s passion is finding people’s innate ability to succeed (ergo the natural inclination towards Montessori/early childhood education [when better to start the path to greatness than when life begins…literally!]…this intent had always been innate in me, I was only lucky enough to find my own talent within myself and be able to name it as Montessori, but that’s another story for another time altogether).  Being able to find that “special-something” inside each and every one of us (read: humanity as a whole) is a high so out of this world, like inhaling helium in outer space (high-pitched AND high from little oxygen?? whaaaa), and to be able to give love to that “special-something” and nourish it until it tends fruition, that is another elation all on its own.  So as much as I can I try to give my own “special-something” aka intensely-passionate-conviction (may have something to do with the fact that I love humanity and the possibilities it brings; I constantly want to toot how great human kind can be, how with great intentions come great results), and honestly enough about what’s not “good” (the whole idea about “good” and “bad” is bs, ignoring the basis of duality which is both sides of the same coin is what makes the Earth go ’round, if this ideology can be engaged in all aspects of life, there wouldn’t be so much internal struggle and suffering, anyways of course this would be another topic for another day, for the Buddhist in all of us) because if it is true what we focus our energy on grows, then I want to be very clear and explicit about growing the human consciousness on this planet, so we can all enjoy ourselves even more fully in this life.

All that being said, L’Enchanteur is something that started from similar ideology and branching into not just another “fashion” brand, it embodies the lifestyle that promotes higher consciousness and of course truthful self-expression is a big part of that.  The twin sisters Soull and Dynasty Ogun (by now you may have noticed the recurring theme of sisters doing not only exquisite but practically bewitching objects-of-substance in the world, and you would be correct to assume I have a fondness for such delicate balance of sisterhood, let alone the very phenomenal existence of twinhood <3).

With still a hint of balminess leftover from a steam room of a summer, I met the sister duo during the meat of a September Fashion week, circa 2013; in a charming studio in Nolita, in the presence of a couple of cacao-complexioned, ferociously-haired boy/man models, garbed in all-white, presided on benches made of wooden slats, each of them manning their own choice of weaponry, aka a long piece of carved wood with beans in it that slid from one end to the other to make this melodic sound that at once sounds like the ocean’s ebbs-and-flows and floating raindrops on a tin roof (someone please tell me what this sublime instrument is called!), therefore lending itself to yet another layer of this minimalistic, yet elaborate showroom/showcase/pop up shop.

So, without further ado, I now formally introduce to you L’enchanteur (though they have been endorsed much by colleagues and creatives-alike outside of this channel right heah)…the beautifully insightful collection that is simplistically complex, full of glee and channels energy that of our ancestors’ better knowledge and wisdom, with every detail thought over and gruesomely arresting aesthetic, to own and to enjoy…

the geometry employed here is simplistic, yet meaningful; the etchings on the edges is symbolic of a ruler, measuring the various marks that one’s life take on as it experiences (this is my take on their symbolism, and after many eclectic rants and extensive tangent convos with Soull, I find ourselves aligning on more than just simple belief systems and general perception of the world.  they may explain it differently, but fundamentally we have very similar outlooks.  not that I am speaking for them or anything ;p).

ladders, lunar elipses, equilateral triangles (equilateral triangles are one of the strongest shapes geometrically. they represent strength under pressure and order in all situations. just fyi), nothing escapes the hands and connective minds of Soull, who fuses all the different elements of this Earth seamlessly.

there’s references from every culture; thbrass “stamp”, what one uses in ancient China, and even nowadays (me myself personally have three to my possession, from my childhood days of banking in Taiwan, each with it’s own style of font, all of them representative of Me).

much of their “jewelry” is “user-purposed”; meaning the user get to decide the purpose of each piece as they so see fit.  aside from the obvious earring and rings, the “bracelet” can serve as a napkin ring, the “hair pick” can serve as a sweater pin.

the strong shapes, squares and circles, really speaks to the minimalist of me; yet the employment of proportion vs. texture, evokes a much richer side of the aesthetic.

in my eyes, onyx is one of the most regal stones to use.  and rightfully so, mysterious yet lux, this crystal is “strength-giving, beneficial during difficult or confusing periods; centers, aligns with higher power…imparts self-confidence”.

IMG_8677

the use of crystals and the energy they channel is prevalent; part of their philosophy behind the lifestyle “brand” is to bring more significance to a piece that just “looks good”.  those who knows a lil’ sumthin’ about them crystals and the effervescence they bring to one’s higher being, this black onyx is “strength giving…beneficial during difficult or confusing periods; centers, aligns with higher power.  promotes vigor, stamina, steadfastness, wise decisions…[also] aids learning lessons, imparts self-confidence, ease in surroundings” (Crystal User’s Handbook, p. 124).  (and yes, while I understand its place and the purpose it serves, I am not citing correctly nor do I care to, what is important here to me is the knowledge, first and foremost).

Dynasty makes the duckbills, and anything textile involved.  for this particular visit I’ve gotten only “jewel-deep” into their chaste aesthetic, but I promise to report back on the other side of the spectrum that is clothing and beyond.

generally I have a fondness for coral; not technically a crystal, the vibrance of the color and the marine-life it exudes brings a calmness only something nature can conjure.  it is like wearing a piece of the Earth with you at all times.

in the crystal world, points have a significance in itself; here, as a single long point (also called a laser wand), it has a denoted implication of “focused energy, can be used to work on a specific point, either putting energy in or drawing energy out as appropriate…particularly useful for healing or ritual work” (Crystal User’s Handbook, p. 10).  since the point on this particular piece is not encased in brass, the extremity gives it the power to do what nature intended.

the use of geometry and lines is fluidly appointed throughout; a double ring that can also be a neck piece, and maybe even a fanciful napkin tie? the beauty of these lies in the multiplicity of the possibilities.

In a life full of chaos and unwarranted stress jumping out at every turn, it is nice to meet such refinery that knows the purpose of itself and works with the many neurosis of the human psyche and life itself; I sincerely welcome the creation of L’Enchanteur to aid our best selves in this earthly sphere, and am thankful for its existence.
